This Great Band ~ since 2003
Originally known as "Sangoku Road", there were 7 members (2 vocalists,
2 guitarists, 1 bassist, 1 saxophonist & 1 drummer). Eventually
2 of them left and the remaining 5 renamed themselves as "UVERworld" .
They were signed under gr8! Records (Sony Music Records)
in 2005 and their music can be categorised as J-mixture, pop, rock. (However, Takuya doesn't like the term mixture. He calls it the music that is produced by the 5 of them)

UVERworld ( ウーバーワールド )
UVER is a combination of 'über'
and 'over', and hence UVERworld was meant as 'Crossing over their
world'. Using this name as a motivation, UVERworld plans to make
sure that their music and popularity is known to every corner
of the world. The name was thought up by Akira
Other Facts
UVERworld is a close knitted band. All 5 members came from Shiga, and in fact, some were childhood friends. Takuya and Nobuto knew each other since 1982 (3 and 2 years old respectively), were classmates until grade 4 and have always been in the same school until junior high. Takuya, Akira and Katsuya were in the same childcare centre. Takuya and Akira were also neighbours, while Akira and Shintarou were classmates.
They also lived in the same house when they moved to Tokyo to form UVERworld. Apparently, there is only 4 rooms in the house, 1 on the 2nd storey and 3 on the 3rd storey. So the unlucky last member will get the living room. They use many methods to decide who will get it, such as throwing darts, or bowling with their left hands. They will change rooms once/twice every year. However, there is news that they will not live under the same roof anymore after the release of 9th single Ukiyo Crossing.
The UVERworld members also seem to be rather multi-talented. In BUGRIGHT documentary, there's a part where the members switched instruments, other than Nobuto (who unfortunately sang), the song seemed quite decent. The members are also quite sporty. If Shintarou hadn't join the music industry, he might be grand slamming now on the baseball field. Takuya also used to play basketball and had learn martial arts in the past. They would also occasionally go play soccer with each other.
